Feedback from a few Participants

"Studying with Firdose was profoundly enriching and transformative. She brought a fresh, essential voice to the world of yoga, offering perspectives that challenged and expanded my understanding. I had the privilege of taking two of her courses. The first, Yoga and Politics, was truly eye-opening—it dismantled many of the myths I had been taught about yoga. Firdose provided a comprehensive and nuanced overview of yoga’s history, roots, philosophy, influences, and its modern-day adaptations. The second course, Decolonizing Yoga, was a deep and unique exploration of yoga through the lenses of poetry, art, music, and much more. The course showed me a new side of yoga that was less explored yet essential to decolonize our understanding of the practice. Firdose has a wealth of knowledge, and encourages discussions and critical thinking, which I believe is one of my most important takeaways. I sincerely wish this approach was a standard in every yoga teacher training program. I’m deeply grateful to Firdose and hope she continues to offer more courses in the future."

"I have just completed my 500YTT at The Shala Cape Town Yoga School and the philosophy & history components of my courses were taught by Firdose from beginning to end. The content that Firdose covers in her courses is paving an expansive way of thinking in the yoga community that I hadn't been exposed to before attending her classes. I have left feeling empowered to think critically and then to apply this honestly in the way that I practice and teach yoga. Firdose's classes are revolutionary within the yoga community and in South Africa. She facilitates uncomfortable conversations about the undeniable truths (and untruths) of the history and philosophies of yoga. Somehow she makes this digestible to the point where as students and teachers, we're able to internalise the course content and situate ourselves in this history too. Her comedic nature, curiosity and assertiveness creates a class environment where you really feel as though there is no such thing as a stupid question. She manages to make room for the seriousness of the responsibility of being a proactive yoga teacher, while not taking yourself too seriously at the same time."

"I loved every bit of the Yoga & Politics – Holding the Essence of Yoga training with Firdose. It offered a rare and valuable resource for anyone—yoga teacher or not—seeking a fresh, well-researched, and informed look into yoga history and politics. Firdose brought this topic to life with clarity, authenticity, and a wealth of knowledge. She opened up and held space for meaningful, sometimes difficult conversations, welcoming a diversity of perspectives without judgment. The training especially challenged common beliefs about the history of yoga and whether it is related to politics or not (Spoiler alert: It is!) . Firdose encouraged the participants to build their own informed opinions based on facts, scientific research, and reflective questions. I left with much more than I expected to gain through this training, empowered to re-think and re-fine the way I offer yoga to my students."

“Firdose is one of those rare teachers who doesn’t just teach; she transforms your thinking pattern. Her classes create a space where curiosity feels safe, ideas are challenged with grace, and history becomes a mirror for self discovery. Every session feels like both an awakening and a gentle shake of the soul — inspiring, grounding, and deeply thought provoking. To learn with Firdose is to walk away not only more informed, but more self aware, more human, and more connected to truth.”
